Introduction & Related Data of 2008 BIBF
The 15th Beijing International Book Fair held from September 1 to September 4, 2008 at Tianjin International Exhibition Center was proved to be a great success.
Relying mainly on books while printing, periodicals and electronic publications were subsidiary，2008BIBF covered an exhibition area of 35,000 square meters，which increased 1,000 square meters than the previous year. The book fair arranged 1,370 stands, among which 512 for overseas exhibitors while 858 for domestic exhibitors. 1390 publishing houses from the Mainland of China and 51 countries and regions attended the fair. Over 150,000 titles were on show and around 200,000 visitors were present during the fair.
Greece participated in 2008BIBF as the Country of Honor with the theme of "Greece: ocean, sunshine, sky, sea breeze, women...a journey of three thousand years" and 36 professional forums and cultural activities were held. A large quantity of publishing houses from Greece covered an exhibition area of 700 square meters and got a very good result.
The contracts signed and intentions concerning copyright trade this year amounted to 11,451. 1,824 contracts were signed.
